Production

Design

The story of all jewelry by SOKOLOV starts with a pencil drawing that expresses the artist’s idea. The sketch is then transferred into computer for a more detailed work and creation of a technical drawing that is so important in production; and then it is perfected with the help of a tablet and a stylus.

3D Modeling

The technical drawing created by artists is then sent to 3D designers, and they have to be very creative to make a three dimensional model of the jewelry item in a special computer program. Computer modeling specialists work closely with the artists to make sure the idea is conveyed to the fullest.

Prototyping

The computer file developed by the 3D designers first appears during the prototyping of the product. The future jewelry item is "grown" in a special cutting-edge 3D printer from special polymer substance. The grown prototype is then finalized by the modeler for further casting.

Modeling

Any jewelry is first made in silver, no matter what metal has been originally planned for it by the artist. Multiple prototypes of various jewelry are put on a wax rod and then cast in silver. After these samples are finalized by the modeler, they become master models — the pilot versions of the future issues of jewelry.

Making a Press Mold

The master model is used by the artisans to create a press mold. The prototype is placed in special yielding substance, shaped and put in the furnace. There, the substance similar to modeling clay firms up and turns into rubber. The mold is then carefully cut, the master model is removed, and the press mold is ready to be used.

Creating a Wax Model

The artisan presses the mold tightly and injects melted wax into it under pressure; the wax hardens immediately. The wax prototypes of future jewelry are then put on a wax rod that looks like a Christmas tree, for further casting.

Casting

The wax "tree" is placed in a special tube for casting — molding box. It is then filled with gypsum mix and put it in the furnace for a few hours, where it hardens and the wax models melt. The molding box is then taken out of the furnace and sat to get cool, and then they fill it with the prepared precious alloy. The hardened gypsum is washed off, and the gold "tree " appears; the jewelry is cut off it and sent on for finishing.

Filing

Freshly cast jewelry is matte and has no glow to it. Filing makes metal surface shinier and the piece — a more precise size. The artisans use sanding machines to "take off " the excess metal. Then a manual tool — a drilling machine — is used to reach smaller parts. The drilling machines have a range of different tips or a file.

Polishing and tumble polishing

The jewelry is placed in special tumblers with special polishing detergents or chemicals. Usually, the process consists of two steps — wet and dry polishing. The workers at this stage load in and unload jewelry, watch the time - it is very important to set the right parameters and not damage the metal.

Mounting

Complicated jewelry, which consists of several parts, goes in for assembling. Here, earrings get locks attached, pendants get hoops, bracelets are put together and other operations take place. The Quality Inspection always tests how reliable the mounting is.

Stone Setting

Stone setting is one of the most intensive and important stages of creating jewelry. Experienced artisans use microscopes to carefully place the gems — from cubic zirconia to diamonds — in special spots and secure them. Only experienced artisans do this job and all stones are set by hand.

Electroplating

jewelry made of white metals is plated with noble rhodium — a metal from the platinum group. The jewelry is dipped in a galvanic bath and due to a chemical reaction gets covered in a thin coat of metal. Rose gold jewelry is rhodium plated with a special pencil, usually in the areas where stones are to be set.'

Labeling and Quality Control

When jewelry is finished, the Quality Control Service carefully inspects it. Only the jewelry that complies with the in-house quality standards gets the SOKOLOV label that serves as jewelry certificate. After this, jewelry travels to our partners stores.

Watches

3 marks All SOKOLOV watches have three marks that guarantee their authenticity and confirm the quality claimed by the manufacturer. Assay Office mark is placed on the case back. The second mark is a hallmark that confirms precious metal’s purity and fineness; it is placed on the case bezel. The third mark is the manufacturer’s trademark where information on the manufacturer is encoded.
Brand logo located on the case back SOKOLOV logo is the brand trademark that identifies every watch. It is engraved on the case back crafted from precious metals. If the case back features sapphire crystals, the logo is stencilled from the inside.
Unique serial number Every SOKOLOV watch is assigned a unique serial case number allowing to follow the full history of the particular product. Rest assured - no one else has exactly the same watch as you.

Reliable movements from international manufactures

RONDA Manual assembly of high class movements with Swiss label is performed at RONDA FARONE factory situated in Lausen (Canton Basel Land, Switzerland). Country mark guarantees that the movement was manufactured particularly in Switzerland. That’s why the Swiss labelled movements are used for SOKOLOV jewellery watches.
Miyota For SOKOLOV miniature watches Japanese quartz movements by Miyota are used. Miyota is a division of Citizen, one of the world’s largest watchmaking companies. Their calibers are a perfect match for small and elegant watch cases. At the same time, they are of the same quality and accuracy level as Swiss movements.

Jewellery and gemstone decorative elements

Diamonds Only high-quality diamonds by KGK Group are used in the production of SOKOLOV jewellery watches. KGK Group is a major international supplier who partners with the leading companies in diamond mining and cutting - De Beers corporation. The stones’ conformity with the strict domestic company standards are personally examined by highly qualified and experienced gemmologists.
Cubic zirkonia Cubic zirconia is incredibly rich in colours allowing to realise the most daring designer ideas, and it enhances the shine of the precious case. Artisan watchmakers create unparalleled timepieces with unique design or with gradient effect that is in full harmony with the dial.
Moonstone Every SOKOLOV crown is a result of independent designer undertaking. In certain models crowns are encrusted with moonstone. Its delicate colour is a perfect match for ladies’ watches. Along with the general design concept, it accentuates the femininity of their owners.

Accessories

Straps SOKOLOV straps are made of genuine calf leather that allows to emulate a variety of textures -laquee, Alligator, Lizard and Teju. For the inner lining we use natural materials that are smooth and soft to touch – leather, noubuck or India rubber.
Bracelets Along with classic leather straps, SOKOLOV offers straps with ceramic elements as well as ceramic bracelets. This modern material is hypoallergenic, scratch-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, and highly durable.
Sapphire crystal Gold watches from SOKOLOV are complete with sapphire crystal. It is highly transparent, doesn’t get dull or cloudy, is durable and scratch-resistant. In timepieces from Forward and Harmony collections sapphire crystal is installed both at the outer side and the wrist side.
Mineral crystal with sapphire coating Silver SOKOLOV watches feature mineral crystal with sapphire coating. Such crystals, though more affordable, are highly durable. The sapphire layer ensures scratch resistance.
Buckle All leather straps of SOKOLOV watches are equipped with a specifically and exclusively designed buckle clasp. It is made of high-quality hypoallergenic non-corroding stainless steel. For gold watches the buckle is decorated with PVD coating matching the case colour. For ceramic bracelets butterfly clasps are used.
Crown Every SOKOLOV crown is unique in design and matches the height and shape of the case, design of the dial and general concept of the model. The crowns of the silver watches are crafted of high-quality hypoallergenic non-corroding stainless steel. The steel crown of the gold watches is decorated with PVD coating matching the case colour.

Dials

Guilloché dials Guilloché is a special engraving technique used to create complex repeating patterns on the dial surface. Each distinctive design is more than simply decorative; it is a real piece of artwork, where the cadence of strokes and curved lines produce a truly mesmerising effect.
Sunburst dials SOKOLOV dials feature a stunning sunburst effect. The dial surface is treated with a hard-bristled rotating brush, creating a pattern that virtually brims with reflected light. SOKOLOV watches offer both classic and innovative patterns in their dials, emulating the 3D look associated with this complex technique.
Dials without apparent indexes You won’t find a distinctive time indication in these timepieces. The dial is crafted so that the elements of design indicate the index. Such an extraordinary approach will be appreciated by a truly extraordinary person. The exceptional design of the dial is a unique feature developed exclusively for SOKOLOV timepieces.
Jewellery dials Every model of these watches is at the same time a high-end jewellery piece. It has its own one-of-a-kind design, meticulously conceived by designers and brought to life by experienced craftsmen. Such ornamental dial is an intricate puzzle you will find yourself solving over and over again.

Materials

Gold SOKOLOV jewellery watches are crafted of 14 carat gold. Pure metal (24 carat) is purchased exclusively in banks to guarantee its authenticity. For SOKOLOV gold watches we use solely a noble classic rose shade of gold that conforms to the highest European standard of “Rose gold”.
Silver SOKOLOV jewellery watches are crafted from 925 sterling silver that combines a truly refined look with enhanced endurance. Galvanized rhodium finish ensures durability, while protecting the silver from oxidizing, thus, projecting a tarnished appearance. The case retains the perfect condition look.
